Become a ‘Friend’ of your local Hammersmith & Fulham park this summer

Hammersmith & Fulham is full of award-winning parks and green spaces, helped kept green and growing by a local volunteer ‘Friends’ groups. From litter picking sessions, to tree watering and bulb planting, the Friends groups help H&F’s parks look good 365 days a year. And they are always on the lookout for new members.

If you live in the north of H&F, you’ll know that Hammersmith Park was the first London park to have a Tiny Forest. But it also has a Friends group, the Friends of Hammersmith Park? And, if you fancy a bigger challenge, get in contact with the Friends of Wormwood Scrubs who help the council care for the biggest open space in H&F.

They’re in good company. A couple of miles down the road are the Friends to Margravine Cemetery who won a ‘Tree Oscar’ in January for their community tree project.

The south of H&F may be known for its river border, but there’s also plenty of green spaces to explore. Get involved in Fulham’s newest Friends group, the Friends of Eelbrook Common , who are helping to transform the park’s old play area into a new wildlife space.

And launched in January this year, the Friends of Fulham Cemetery already have 50 members. They’re always on the lookout for volunteers. If you’re local, why not help the 36 new trees thrive there this summer.

With more than 55 green spaces in H&F there’s plenty of Friends groups choose from.

Or if there’s not one for your local area, why not start your own?
