Local charity Home-Start has been providing essential support to Hammersmith & Fulham families with children under five for 20 years. From prenatal care to primary school, Home-Start helps families facing challenges such as depression, bereavement, domestic abuse, and financial difficulties. Their services, which include family visits, therapy services, and their Big Hopes Big Futures programme, are essential in creating safer and happier homes where children and parents can flourish.

Home-Start’s Bump-Start project focuses on a child’s first one thousand days, offering free training to volunteers in post-natal depression, attachment, and maternal-infant mental health. The charity also runs outings and events during the school holidays. Besides professional referrals, residents can self-refer themselves for support through the Home-Start website or by calling the Home-Start team.

If you would like to get involved and become a volunteer, visit the Home-Start website to register your interest today. Home-Start is financially supported by the council and celebrated its 25th anniversary with a gala night at the House of Lords. As Cllr Emma Apthorp, Mayor of Hammersmith & Fulham, said at the anniversary event, “Home-Start delivers life-changing support to families across the borough.”
