Pride in the Square Mile

As we head into Pride month, there are a large number of exciting events happening across the Square Mile.

20th JUNE FROM 6PM: GUILDHALL PRIDE – NOMINATE REPRESENTATIVES

The City of London Corporation, in partnership with the LGBTQ+ Insurance Networ, will be marking Pride in style Thursday, 20th June, bringing together representatives of the LGBTQ+ community from across the Square Mile and beyond. The Pride flag will be raised, followed by an evening of music, performance and celebration. The event will begin with the raising of the Pride flag above Guildhall, followed by an exciting celebration featuring music, performances and refreshments. Hundreds of representatives of City organisations and the LGBTQ+ community will be brought together to celebrate diversity, inclusion and belonging in the heart of our capital. Last year’s event was really wonderful (see video) and this year will be even better.

Next steps

This event is invitation only and places are strictly limited. Any City of London workplace is welcome to nominate three representatives to attend by, 3rd June. This would ideally include leaders of your Pride network, executive sponsors and those who have worked to advance LGBTQ+ equality over the past year. Partner companies may nominate up to six representatives. Formal invitations to those nominated will be sent out, dependent on capacity. Click here to nominate your representative.

PRIDE HISTORY WALKING TOURS ARE BACK

The free LGBTQ+ History “From Prejudice to Pride” walking tours, run by City of London Guides in partnership with the City of London Corporation, are back throughout the month of June. Many will have heard of the Molly Houses but what about the female bagnios; or the Cathedral ‘convenience; gay kings; erotic theatre and what did Henry VIII have to do with it all? Come and explore these and more with an official City of London Guide.

These tours were hugely popular when they were last ran back in February, and if you are part of a Pride network at your workplace or elsewhere, this could be a fantastic way to bring your colleagues together to explore the City.

Book your place here. If you need to cancel one or more of your places, please email  belonging@cityoflondon.gov.uk
