Westminster Council leads the way in tackling food poverty and promoting green living

Learn how Westminster City Council’s efforts to address food poverty have earned them the award for the most improved local authority in the latest Good Food for All Londoners report. Find out more about their initiatives in promoting access to healthy and sustainable food.

Westminster City Council has been recognized for its efforts in addressing food poverty in the latest Good Food for All Londoners report. The council has been awarded the title of the most improved local authority, thanks to its initiatives in supporting residents with local community food pantries and expanding its provision of universal free school meals for children aged 3 to 14.

The report highlights the council’s increased prioritization of food and progress in tackling food poverty. Among the 28 councils that participated in the survey, Westminster finished seventh in the “Beyond the Food Bank” category. The report also looks at how different boroughs are addressing the climate and nature emergency through food, including serving sustainable meals in schools.
